The Power of Habits
In 2017 I decided to Run for City Council in Glendale, AZ. I knew in order to truly deal with the stress that comes with politics, I needed to have laser sharp focus as well as be in the best shape of my life! I wanted to be healthy mentally, emotionally, and physically! The name of my campaign was called -"Transformation, its time for a change!" One day I had an epiphany of "The Power of Habits" -Breaking bad ones and developing good ones will give you the power to transform your life! So I was on a new journey to fitness by breaking bad habits and developing new Habits in order to take control of my Life. I developed Fit-Habit I Was "Committed to Become FIT!"
From a Lost to a WIN
Although I didn't win the 2018 City Council Seat,
I did WIN by overcoming High Blood Pressure!
I lost a total of 70lbs Going from 280lbs to 210lbs! I no longer have High Blood Pressure!
High Blood Pressure -The silent Killer
As a child my great-grandfather had a stroke right in front of me due to high blood pressure. My family has a history of High Blood Pressure.
High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Known as the "silent killer", High blood pressure can increase without any noticeable symptoms. I was one of the few people whose body would alert me when my pressure was severely high. I would experience nosebleeds, headaches, and dizziness. However most people have no obvious symptoms until they experience a heart attack or stroke.
Matter-of -fact Blacks face significantly higher rates of hypertension compared to whites. Studies also show that regardless of race, a number of factors were associated with increased risk for hypertension, such as being overweight or obese and having a family history of high blood pressure. These risk factors are well-established and known to increase risk for both hypertension and heart disease. (CARDIA Study (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults)
